Jeremiah Walsh brings his experience in tennis coaching and programming experience to Sun Oaks Tennis and Fitness as our Director of Tennis. Walsh is a Redding native and grew up playing tennis at Sun Oaks. He relocated back to Redding from Colorado in the summer of 2007.
Prior to accepting his position at Sun Oaks he was the Head Women’s Tennis Coach at Southern Oregon University where the team set a new school record for single season win percentage.
In 2001 he received a scholarship to train and coach at the Van Der Meer tennis academy in Hilton Head, South Carolina. Later that year he was hired as the Head Coach of the Virginia Military Institute Men’s Tennis team making him the youngest Division I Head Coach in the country at the age of 24. Following his coaching stint Walsh moved to Colorado where he went on to start a tennis facility management company. In 2003 he received the USTA National Programming Award for “Excellence in Tennis Programming”.
In 2004 Walsh was hired as the Head Coach of the University of Northern Colorado where he led the Men’s tennis program during their transition to Division I and the Big Sky Conference.
